Vancouver English Country Dance Ball

Saturday, April 17th, 2010, Vancouver, British Columbia

English country dance thrived for over 200 years from late Elizabethan times into the 19th century. Familiar to readers of Thomas Hardy, Charles Dickens, and especially Jane Austen, this wonderful dance tradition hasn't remained static but continues to evolve and expand. This year our programme features an eclectic mix of wonderful dances set to great music. Your registration includes an afternoon workshop focussing on form and style, followed by an evening of elegant dancing to beautiful live music.

Our dancing master this year is Bruce Hamilton. Known for his warm and friendly teaching style, Bruce has taught all over the US, as well as in Canada, Japan, and England. He is currently President of the Country Dance and Song Society (CDSS). For music this year, we are thrilled to welcome The Tricky Brits: Anita Anderson, Dave Bartley, Betsy Cooper, & Karen Iglitzin, all excellent and renowned musicians.

No partner necessary.
Festive attire is encouraged.
Please come fragrance-free.
Refreshments will be provided.

Venue: The workshop and ball will be held at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver, at 73rd Avenue, between Granville Street and Oak Street, ten minutes from Vancouver International Airport and downtown Vancouver. (maps by: google, yahoo, mapquest)
